My opinions on the whole Covid situation have been malleable the entire time. I've shifted on lockdowns, vaccines, stimulus, among other things.

These threads filled with comments from guys who make $18/hr complaining about fast food drive thru lines taking forever bc no one wants to work for $10/hr anymore are amusing.

Two, you have already decided who's fault it is. Biden fricked it up and his gravy train is the reason.

No I didn't. I'm not even convinced Biden is calling the shots.

I think the unemployment, from go last March, should have been tied to how much you made at your prior job, not a flat rate for everyone, regardless of input.

I think UI never should have been enhanced again this year, and that money should have used for infrastructure projects and increased stimulus to drive the economy.

As for who to blame, Congress controls the budget.

ETA: just yesterday, Biden was practically begging people to stop abusing UI.

Minimum wage is a little of $16 dollars here and most fast food places seem to offer over minimum wage. I haven’t seen the ‘HIRING’ signs all over like I did a few weeks back when I was in Louisiana.

What honestly baffles me is that the prices on the value dollar menu are identical as they are everywhere else but pay their dishwashers $20/hr

That's all fair and reasonable and we align far more than we don't.

However, those opinions have nothing to do with posters repeated arguement that government checks are the reason for a labor shortage.

Hard to believe considering the unemployment rate in San Fransico/Oakland is right in line with US numbers.

and

People are too god damn lazy to work atm because of unemployment and stimmies.

Wild, I know, for people like you to recognize there can be independent opinions outside of your leaders talking points.

Many of us have only related what we see in our own lives every day, and you’re saying that our thoughts are dictated by our “leaders talking points”. Please identify my leader.

You guys keep saying that it’s anecdotal, it’s not reality, it’s just your perception of the situation, show me a link. How about you show us a link that shows that what we’re saying isn’t true instead of simply insulting the intelligence of everyone who disagrees with you.

They're not the only reason. A lot of low wage jobs have exceptionally high turnaround and constantly have issues staffing. But those checks are definitely a big reason.

BOH restaurant employees and entry level hospitality employees are always something that'll be hard to fill. The pay is low, and good managers have to do a lot of things to hold onto those employees. But if you're starting those employees off at $9/hrs, you're going to have a hell of a time hiring anybody other than highschoolers when the government is handing out checks, and you're going to have almost as hard of a time holding onto your more experienced crew that's making $11, $12, $13 an hour.

Yeah, if you didn't work in 2019 you probably had a hard time getting on the gravy train, if at all.

He did though
He quit in July of last year thinking he’d get more from unemployment because at the time it was the additional $600
He didn’t get anything because he’s a moron
