So, the next time I go to Jamaica, which is pretty close to the last place I would ever go, I get shite service thanks to you. Good job.

Nothing will probably happen but that doesn't change the fact that you're a piece of shite for using the services and then bailing on the bill.

We had to take my buddies son to the hospital in Cozumel Mexico. We had to make a small payment up front before they would do anything. All told the final bill for a three day stay was amazingly less then you would pay in the states. I know Mexico health care gets crapped on (for good reason) but that little hospital in Cozumel provided very good care.

Cozumel and Cancun have outstanding treatment for dive accidents. Great hyperbaric chamber there with a first rate staff. They saved a friends life when she got the bends down there.

I’m an emergency physician in the US.

1) taking an ambulance for food poisoning is pathetic. Honestly, the ER for a 28 year old with food poisoning is kind of weak. But to go and not pay is an abomination. That said...

2) I take care of a foreigners from time to time, and unless they have some travel insurance (which is rare), they rarely pay me or the hospital. I’m not really that bothered by this (I see about 5000 patients per year, so a handful doesn’t matter that much), but I hear stories of other countries forcing Americans to pay, so part of me wants retribution for the sake of my fellow Americans.

3)Politically this irritates me when a girl from Guatemala is “visiting” while 30 weeks pregnant. She’s not paying her bill, and she’s about to have an American baby when she delivers. Besides the anchor babies, other relatives from Latin American countries are “visiting” and when I tell them to follow up with the specialist next week, they are undoubtedly here for a long visit. On the other hand

4) illegals without health insurance actually try to pay their medical bills at a rate much higher than Americans without insurance

hey dumb dumb.

never ever ever drink or eat outside of the resort in South America. if you'd of gone by this pretty simple obvious and well-known rule, you wouldn't be in this situation.

Mail them back Monopoly money or some other fake currency. That’s not gonna solve anything, just curious on what their reaction would be.

1) Jamaica isn't in South America.

2) I go to the islands at least 2-3 times a year and never stay on resorts and eat where the locals eat. Never been sick from it. The general rule is drink bottled water and you'll be fine.
