Nice pics though. Did something similar in Montana years ago. Rode horses up into the mountains and fished along rivers. Was checking for bears every minute and every time heard a noise. Kinda nerve wrecking when you know no one is within hundreds of miles of you.
Would love to spend some time in Montana. Had a cousin that moved up there for a job. He said it's one of the most beautiful places he's ever been. And yeah... I'm not sure what animal produced those tracks, but I felt pretty certain I didn't want anything to do with them. I thought bears were still hibernating.

I considered moving to CO or something for a change of pace, and my business allows me to work from anywhere with a phone and internet, but I also have a father battling cancer I help with a lot. Just saying that it's not all about "having balls" like you think it is.
That's fair, for sure. Everyone's situation is different. I was fortunate enough to have some things go my way, and I don't have any kids to worry about. Very thankful my wife has been so supportive.

The fishing itself was a failure. I came fairly unprepared, lost my only lure after 4 casts

You remind me of an annoying fricking gnat.

Most people don't have the balls to do it.
Most people have obligations and can't just quit their job, leave their wives, and hope it all works out somehow.

My wife is a teacher. She stayed back to finish her school year while our house sold (it sold recently). In the mean time, I'm running a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
So wifey is back home working, paying the bills, and providing health insurance for you to live away and not contribute financially?

Really enjoyed your story bud.
Been on a few adventures like this myself. Pack yourself a small tackle box for times like these. I have one from walmart with a long strap so I can hang it diagonally across my chest. $10. It's a soft Plano and has lasted 10 years now

I fished there with my dad about 5 years ago. Caught 8 nice rainbows right where the stream flows into the reservoir. Long hike but well worth the view and time spent with my father.
