I'm not sure why you wouldn't have gotten a 5.0

I'd love an F150 but don't trust a turbo to hold up. I'll get the V8 even if it's less fun to drive.

It's why I have said in other threads, the ecoboost is not to be trusted.

Using synthetic oil doesn't mean you can double or triple oil change mileage. If your vehicle is only driven short round trips, you should still change it every 3000 miles. I wouldn't push an oil change past 5,000 under any favorable condition.

Dafuq?

3k on synthetic oil sounds about as fun as burning a pile of cash

Gas mileage was worse than a V8 yet the power wasn't immediately available.

But it's super strong until it grenades after about 100,000 miles and the truck comes with military grade aluminum.

Honestly, I would still probably get one if I decided to buy a 2017 today.

Been there done that. 6.2 GM is the best half ton motor on the market. I can fix a broke tailgate handle.

You're complaining because your engine worked well for over 100k miles

Dude, this isn't the 1960's I would expect any new car to go 200k.

I have 190k on my truck, 255k on my van.

actually looks like it is nowhere near as bad as the OP makes it sound.
Six gaskets, four seals and a damper bolt?

To me it sounds like a standard timing belt change.

I do all my own maintenance and never had any kind of engine trouble over the last 40 years. In fact, I haven't had a car note since 1983. So, I'm quite happy to be with the rest of the idiots than be grouped with you.
