Plausible story bro
I worked with quite a few back of the house cooks that 100% did this. They turned down raises and promotions because they would make too much.
One guy's wife would also, in his words, "Whoop his arse" if he didn't sell half the food stamp amount in cash each month.

Very easily. Instead of the cliff, where someone all of a sudden gets cut off, it should be gradual as the person earns more money. Once the earning starts, the clock starts. The clock says you now have two years to get off welfare. You cannot simply quit and start over. If you get fired for cause, then you had better find another damn job, 'cause the clock can only restart if you get laid off, the businesses closes shop, or something else out of your control.
Welfare should not be a way of life for any person able to work. If you don't want to starve, then you'd better start making some damn money on your own.

I once overheard a woman in the grocery store telling her friend "I can't stand paying cash for food".
I thought "Welcome to my world, bitch".

White Privilege > Black Entitlement

I agree with you in principle, problem is the bureaucratic system required to manage that also has a pricetag.
I would rather see the welfare system be a subsidization model where the government subsidizes simple roles in private business. Cost is rolled into traditional HR company roles and they have a financial responsibility to keep the process efficient.

To all the people who think this is something only black people do, it's not.
Well, I am not talking about welfare specifically. There are a good bit of white people find ways to get on disability then do "side work" for cash.
I know OF one married couple who the husband is on disability.. But he plays music with a band and on the weekend "plays gigs" which is gets paid in cash.
There are people who who receive disability, but when crawfish season comes around they are able to get up early a few times a week to go put out traps and then get about 300 lbs - 400 lbs of crawfish a week to sell.

I must go to all the wrong seafood stands because 100% of the welfare abuse I see is them buying seafood with louisiana purchase cards.

I haven't seen a single person suggest it was.
Welfare abuse, like culcha, knows no racial or ethnic boundaries.

Half of the first page are replies that mention race in a roundabout way.

Retail Person A: I am. I'm taking my check stubs today. That's why I dont want a full time job.

This is a true story from many years ago...
An old friend's husband died suddenly, leaving her with two very young children. She was a teacher and working on her Masters in education. She applied to SS for her husband's benefits for her children and was told that she made too much. She was also told that if she quit her job she would make around as much as her job was paying her (she didn't quit).
This is the world we've made for ourselves: pay into the system or live off of it.

This is an indictment on our job market more than it is our welfare system.

No they don't. If you think they are, you're the problem.

There are only 2 posts that insinuate race, but if you point them out then they label you the racist for assuming they meant black people. They're intentionally posted in a way to give them plausible deniability, but anyone with a brain knows what they're insinuating.

if you are to qualify for financial help from any governmental institution, you must put in X hours working for that municipality. i dont care if it is pushing a lawnmower, making copies, stacking inventory, or anything else.
Then there must be a MAX time period to receive any benefits.
Problem is that there are people the truly need help. Bigger problem is that there are even more people that will abuse the system.
There is a ton of litter that could be picked up.
