I keep snakes. I'm a falconer (hunting, not prancing around renaissance fairs in tights). I used to dabble in bonsai. I read (That's probably weird for most people).

One thing I've done for years is, When the BR Biz Report comes out with shite like Top 40 under 40, I'll spend the entire day and more if possible stalking their family-tree and try to gain an understanding of how said Top 40 faq got to where they are.
I'll look for money and various 'silver spoons' in the family via public records, links to obits, property searches, etc.
For example, you might find some 28 yr old suit in there who 'made it' and find out daddy and an uncle own construction companies and he still has his daddy's address in CCL as his home address.
It helps me deal with my own mediocrity and, as a dork at a desk, it passes the time.
Also makes me really good at stalking a-hole posters and Facebookers who are mean to me, ready to pounce if they frick with me IRL.

It's basically like a worldwide scavenger hunt. You use GPS devices to find an item hidden at a given set of coordinates.

That's not crazy. My dad use to do a lot of woodworking.
He had a shopsmith, he could do all kind of shite with that thing. There were two or three people he made a rocking horse for when they were young. Two of them I know for sure, now has it at their house. The things he made were usually for someone specific, but I still have some wooden toys he made. There are a lot of things you can do woodworking.
