Definitely the good ole days- go to Buck and Bass, eat at Hooters, and then go to Platinum.

Because I don't like crappy paper thin brisket? I never got the fuss over Central. Always preferred BBQ Shop.

Only person I've ever seen order is brisket is a friend who is Jewish.

You seem like a camel jockey to me.

See:

Stax Studios
Sun Studios
Rock and Soul Museum
Ducks in the Peabody Lobby at 11a and 5p
Live Music on Beale Street.
Full Gospel Tabernacle On Sundays (If Rev Al Green is there)

Eat:
Breakfast: Brother Junipers (highly recommended)
also Renee's Sandwich Shop had a great little breakfast business

Beyond Breakfast:
Tops Barbecue - skip the barbecue and get the cheeseburger.
Get a malt at the Wiles Smith Drug Store. (Cash only)
Gus' Fried Chicken (dip it in Ranch dressing)
Ernestine and Hazel's for a Soulburger (just for the history)
Automatic Slim's Tonga Club for a nice evening meal. Wife loved the place.
Buckleys on Poplar was another good higher end choice.
I REALLY liked a place called the Soufish Grill. Smoked chicken wings and great fried okra.

Barbecue - needs some explanation:
Rendezvous - sausage and cheese plate. Ribs are only tourist quality.
Cozy Corner burned but is running up across the street. Cornish Game hen. Banana pudding. I like their ribs, but ribs are debatable in Memphis.
BBQ Shoppe if you only have one visit to make. Best all-around.

Beale Street

Interstate BBQ

Rendezvous BBQ

Texas de Brazil (but there's one in BR)

Mud Island

Graceland so you can laugh at carpet on the ceiling and other 70s "luxuries" in home decor.

That's Memphis.

Folks Folly (steaks

Very good list.

I'd add Iris or Second Line near Overton square.

And yes, Rendevous is for tourists.
