Had a wedding last weekend and I have one in November and I couldn't hate my friends any more than I already do. I'd honestly just tell them to frick off, but I'm the best man in both of them therefore I can't be a total a-hole about it.
The one last weekend is what really pissed me off. It's september in Texas. It's 100 degrees. Why the frick do it then? Plenty of great weather in the spring. At least the one in November is in Cancun where I wont sweat my arse off.
TLDR: Frick people who have fall weddings.

I anticipate this thread will end like every
thread in the past: several divorces, several lost season tickets and several skipped weddings.

People should make their wedding whenever they feel like... If you are that butthurt about a football game the same day, don't go to the wedding. If you can't miss the wedding, I'm pretty sure there will be another football game for you to watch the next week.
Ditto. And I got married in April but I've been to several weddings on game days.
If the person getting married means enough to you, it shouldn't matter what the hell else is going on that day.
For example, If you're pissed that your best friend is getting married on a game day, then you're a pretty crappy best friend.
If you're not that close to the person getting married, then check "no" on the RSVP card and quit bitching.
Besides, I don't know what kind of shitty weddings yall go to, but some of the most fun days/weekends of my life have been weddings.

It is time to start a SJW campaign against selfish people that would consider getting married during football season. This can be macro handled by bombarding all of the sites where those that are of marrying age go to whine about their problems daily.
It can be micro handled by letting every girl that is dating one of your friends know that, in the event things proceed to a wedding date, that football season is unacceptable. This should be mentioned every other time you see her, beginning with the second date.
To anyone who is caught in having to make a decision about attendance now: She is going to make him ditch all his friends that he has now so you will be gone like a fart in a hurricane within a year anyway.
Go to the game.

I keep reading this over and over in this thread. For those who are saying this, you do realize that football is a live event, and I do mean an Event not just a game. An event that brings families and friends and old classmates back together a few Saturdays a year. A football game is not like a Seinfeld rerun where, "Oh well, you missed it when it aired but got it on the DVR. I'm sure you've missed nothing."
Football weekends are events, and there are only a few of them a year. Specifically if you are talking about home games that people attend, only about 7 a year, and an LSU/Bama, OSU/Michigan, USC/Notre Dame type game, once a year. Some of those games become memorable, once in a lifetime events.
These people getting married on football weekends, that day may be an important, once in a lifetime event for you, but not for everybody else. It's just another wedding on the calendar. Do yourself a favor and find another date. If your soon to be Mrs. insists and is all about her special day and is going Bridezilla, you may want to think about breaking that thing off. It's a sign of bad things to come. A true partner would know what things are important to you and would not put you in the position of a fall wedding.

Are you talking about a wedding? Sounds like it. I see the same old people at the same tailgates 7 times a year. having the same conversations. Drinking the same thing. Stop acting like every home game is the event of the Century.

So don't go. No harm done.

We, as individuals, do not have control over when a home game is played.
Individuals do have control over when they set their date.
This is why I am suggesting a SJW campaign and individual educating. Those who would do such a foul deed must surely do it from ignorance.
Remind early, remind often. Problem solved.

My wife wanted a fall wedding. What I told her is exactly how I feel about fall weddings: if you absolutely have to have it in the fall, then do it, but just understand that you can't get mad at people when they either don't attend or they are not paying attention to our first dance because they're in the other room watching the game.
Then when she decided to move it to January I told her the same thing would apply to the Saints if they made the playoffs and we ended up moving it to the week in between the conference championships and the Super Bowl. If I recall the original date ended up being the Saints v. Lions playoff game in the Dome. Close call.

You prove my point. A little thought and education paid off for everyone involved.

Artie Romie likes to quote me yet fails to quote the most important line.

We had our wedding on a Friday at 7pm, if people didn't come because of that I don't really care
The people who I expected to be there, were there.
There's like 5 people on earth I give a shite about anyway. If anything, when I get married, I'd be glad to have all the rando family members decline the invitation.
I'm going to a wedding for good friends that are huge party animals in a few weeks that's on a Friday at 3:45PM. The reception is 6 hours long. People are going to be wheeled out of that place. Love it.

So what you are saying is people you don't know mean more to you than the people actually in your life....
Goes back to if the couple getting married doesn't mean that much to you, just don't go...

We aren't talking about you and your wife. We are talking about other people. You have every right to have your wedding whenever the frick you want. That is not the discussion.
