Weddings are awesome. I'll gladly trade an hour worth of ceremony for 3+ hours of food booze and fun.

if a non-catholic wedding ceremony lasts longer than 10 min, both the bride and groom should be shot. FACT!
i hate catholic weddings.

I take it you don't go to mass and are a social class Catholic. Otherwise, a Catholic wedding takes care of your mass obligation and is a celebration. They are maybe 15 minutes longer than a regular mass.

Don't yall realize that everyone in Louisiana is trying to avoid scheduling on game days or during hunting season or during the heat? That only leaves a couple of months available, then when you whittle that down to Saturdays you do not have many options date-wise. Then you have to get one of those few weekends before all of the other couples do. Then on top of all of that, you need to coordinate the date you can get the church with a band, photographer, florist, reception venue, etc.
So unless you want to wait a couple of years, you have to sacrifice some things. I'm just saying, a lot of these couples probably didn't want to schedule during football season but couldn't avoid it. I never judge those couples.

What's wrong with Friday night weddings?

If one of my good friends plans a wedding on a Saturday in the fall, it's understood that I won't be attending.

It typically doesn't, but I act like it does, too.

They are a huge PITA to get to. And most working folks are beat on a Friday night. Bottom line, get married on a perfect day with no sporting events, other family or work obligations for your guests, hunting seasons, good weather for fishing (which cancels out the good wedding weather), provide unlimited booze and gourmet food to your friends since they have been so inconvenienced, and for God's sake, don't make them go to Church...you triggering SOB!

I would much rather a fri night wedding than saturday

The 1983 Code of Cannon Law says it does...to me at least.

I get that. And for people with flexible schedules and that live in town that is great. But the typical wedding involves some travel for some guests. If its you and 20 family and friends that's one thing. If it is 400 people and many people traveling, well that's something else.

You can always tell who's wife/fiance has them by the balls when your so called die-hard LSU football friends get married on game day.
