Significant Tornado Parameter values of 6-7 (scale max is 9) over central and northern Louisiana. Anything over a 1 is legit tornado threat so 7 is very ominous.

The STP just shows where the best conditions for strong tornadoes exists. That whole area won't be covered in them, just that the supercells that do form in the high STP region have high end potential.

On April 28th, 2014 I was gassing up my truck in Starkville and storm chasing vehicles were swarming the area like flies on a chit sammich.
All of a sudden, one of those retro-fitted armored vehicles pulled in 2 or 3 gas pumps down and I knew then that we were in one hell of a bind...
An hour or two later Louisville was flattened by an EF4 and 9 people died.
Hopefully the correlation doesn't prove true again, because, if there's a tornado outbreak, east central Mississippi/west Alabama will have a 99% chance of being in the thick of it too. We always find a way.

What’s the timing for central MS, specifically the Meridian area? Is it supposed to be as bad as LA?

Bad setup right in the middle of tornado season.
Good luck to everyone down there.

Check the OP for timing. Central MS isnt expected to have the storms north La is, but all modes of severe weather still possible.

You're in the shite. Have a plan for where you'll go if a violent tornado is heading your way tomorrow and have a way to get alerts. Hopefully the worst stuff misses you.

Thanks Duke for the information.

East ms and Alabama will get the storms in early morning hours. Not likely to be as bad due to less heat
