Hope people can stay safe... tornadoes at night are no joke, especially large wedges.

I'm afraid way too many people are just going to sleep and could get hurt or worse by sleeping through everything.

Right now in Tuscaloosa at 11:30 at night it's 76 degrees and the dew point is 68. "juicy air" , just as it could be in the middle of the afternoon, when storms typically are at their worse.

Keep the radio primed man, and stay safe. This stuff will probably slam you soon. I was completely fine today as I was in New Orleans, which was windy, and now I’m back in Baton Rouge which is basically a summer night wet atmosphere. Had no I-10 problems.

[quote]Birmingham @NWSBirmingham · 2m Currently, the leading edge of thunderstorms is nearing western AL. Several of these cells are displaying strong rotation, so be prepared to act if a warning is issued for your location! We will continue to provide updates through the duration of this event. #alwx[/quote

It's probably "helping" that we've gone into nighttime. Not having storms firing willy nilly off the daytime heating. Less competition for inflow in a soupy environment.

It's inevitable that there is a tornado warning that will head to towns called "Intercourse" or "Climax"
