Wearing a mask to signify to others that one is “taking this seriously “

I am not against wearing masks. However this reason is thrown around a lot and honestly it triggers me a little bit. I don’t want to hear any other reason for masks other than hard science on how they physically reduce the spread. Asking someone to do something to signify their thoughts on a matter conforms with others is a dangerous road to go down. Thought policing is not good.

Nobody is asking people to wear masks to show their thoughts on coronavirus. And someone expressing their own thoughts by wearing a mask is not thought policing someone else. You don't have to be triggered :)

My Mom's oncologist suggested it. I'll likely wear one around her during flu season as well. Since I kind of like her being around.
