Who comes up with these things?

And you thought liberal arts degrees weren't worth going into $200,000 debt for.

I saw a comment on social media in reference to Nottoway.. Someone said something like "We are finally getting justice for what they did to us".. I am paraphrasing. You can't have a rational conversation until people realize they are not slaves. And the term "generational trauma" is one of the stupidest terms I ever heard.

Of my 8 great grandparents, 2 were alive when I was born. The idea that you have a connection with anyone beyond great grandparents is crazy. In fact, their ancestors would likely be disappointed in them.. They would come back and say "what do you mean us? I was a slave! No you. You have every opportunity there is available to you now stop using me as your excuse to everything and go do something productive".

Probably a little over exaggerated by why would Wbrz skip over that very important detail? At its worst it’s malicious. Probably just a lazy oversight , but we should expect better from our journalism.

This is a little much and exaggerated. I wouldn’t feed to much into these crazies

Tearing down and removing statues didn't work but yeah, burning down the remaining Plantations, that's ticket!

I can see the point and pain they must feel. And boycott away. None of those places will be effected by this.

So they should also have mentioned that 97% of individuals at the time of slavery, didn't own slaves. Just as a reminder that not every White person, or affluent Black person, owned slaves, just an extreme minority.

They should include this little detail as well.

I wouldn’t think slaves could afford glasses and be so fat with all the manual labor.

Is the one in the middle culturally appropriating red hair?

But a large percentage of that 97% didn’t do enough or anything at all to uproot the institution. You don’t get a pat on the back for a lack of courage or for letting atrocities happen.

After a while you’re complicit

WBRZ- as word of a call for a Black boycott of local advertisers with the station spread yesterday due to perceived inequities in media coverage of the recent fire at nottoway plantation, businesses across the region have begun asking, “Why not us?”

one local businessman who declined to be identified told WBRZ, “how do I get included in this boycott? Honestly, we could use a break.”

Man I deleted my comment, because I know plenty of fine black people, but that's along the lines of what I said

acknowledge the brutal legacy of slavery

The brutal legacy of slavery is that every race and most countries throughout the history of mankind has engaged in slavery. This particular brand started around 650AD with Africans selling other Africans in the Sub-Saharan slave trade. In the 16th century, it then progressed to Africans selling other Africans to Europeans and then those countries in the "New World".

So, by the "logic" of ghettowaze2.0 we should be boycotting every culture in human history and anyone and everything having to do with the entire continent of Africa.

Since current evolutionary theory says we all came from Africa, I'll be boycotting the dictates of "ghettowaze2.0".

Look at you trying to bring facts to a debate against a social justice movement. Ain’t nobody over there gonna listen to that.

But I 100% agree with you.
