quote:

We are officially calling for a public boycott of WBRZ
Channel 2.

WBRZ's recent coverage of Nottoway Plantation failed to acknowledge the brutal legacy of slavery that built it. Instead, they invited the public to share "favorite memories" of a place built on the backs of enslaved Black people, romanticizing trauma while ignoring the truth.

We will not allow nostalgia to whitewash history.

WBRZ has benefited from Black
viewership, Black labor, and Black pain, yet refuses to center Black voices in moments like this.

quote:

So here are our demands:

1. A public apology from WBRZ for the erasure of enslaved people in their plantation coverage.

2. Dedicated segments telling the full story of Nottoway-featuring local Black historians, descendants, and voices who can name the lives, labor, and violence that shaped that property.

3. A commitment to truthful, community-centered reporting that honors the full weight of Louisiana's past.

quote:

Until then, we are calling on the public to boycott WBRZ and the businesses who advertise with them.

Including
1. Raising Cane's
2. Family Chiropractic Clinic
3. Williamson Eye Center
4. The Baton Rouge Clinic, AMC
5. Bet-R Grocery
6. Mr. Electric of Baton Rouge
7. Murphy Law Firm
8. VEX European and Exotic Auto Repair
9. Essential Credit Union
10.Capital Area Finance Authority

Silence is not neutral. It is complicity.

Where in the world are indigenous black populations better off than blacks in the USA?

Hard to view it as a "brutal legacy" when the descendants are clearly better off than they would have been if their ancestors were never brought here.

I hope they do boycott Cane’s and The Baton Rouge Clinic. Will make for better experiences at both places.

Why not boycott all the ambulance chasers and not just one, and maybe our insurance rates will come down?

Why no Gordon, why no Spencer, why no 4 4 4?

I’m not sure if those we don’t speak of realize, those places would be better for the boycott

Slavery is mucho not good, obviously, but it is an interesting thought exercise. Black Americans ancestors suffered and they are now enjoying the greatest nation in the history of humanity due to that suffering.

Both of these things can be true.

While they're at it they should go ahead and inform them that their own people (black Africans) captured them and sold them to slave traders. Let's not act like "Blacks" were not at fault for slavery as well, they had their hands all over it

Thanks for giving whites a list of places to support!

But serious question, why are they boycotting these other places?

Guaranteed this is an out of state looney from somewhere like Chicago or Portland organizing this and is being funded by those who we cannot name without being labeled something.

Absolutely, completely agree. The "legacy" of slavery is one of the most prosperous populations of African descent in the entire world.

Their own people sold them into slavery. Until they recognize that Africans operated the upstream slave trade, then we can’t have a rational conversation about the issue.

The correct statement of individual rights is that everyone has the right to an opinion, but crucially, that opinion can be roundly ignored and even made fun of, particularly if it is demonstrably nonsense!
