Agreed.

Beatitudes is on par, if not slightly better than the Eightfold Path.

This is coming from a practising Buddhist.

A law supporting the 10 Commandments is exceedingly liberal. Actual, real conservatives are outraged by Wee Governor and his minions in the concrete penis.

Well what does it say? If it’s for the betterment of society, I might be okay with it.

I'd imagine they are wanting most of the text of Chapter 2. since the following chapters go in to depth on each of these things.

Lots of the founding fathers were Deists.

this fact gets lost on a majority of people... many people like to try to lump the Founders as an extension of the Apostles, of sorts....

the Founding Fathers, if they'd be alive today, would be horrified by this new law, being it was things like this that the early settlers, were escaping by coming here in the first place... why some people have become so twisted in their logic and understanding of this, in order to support their worldview, while still banging the drum for the Constitution, and liberty, and patriotism, etc, is astounding, truly...

it’s crazy to say the 10 commandments are the basis of western law.

I think 3 of them are actual laws.

We specifically allow other gods, we allow idols, we allow people to work in the Sabbath, we allow people to take the lords name in vain, we don’t have any law requiring people
to honor their mother and father, we allow adultery and we allow people to covet.

So what’s left, murder, theft and purging which aren’t exactly unique to the Judeo-Christian belief system

just curious, but how do you feel about the American culture of personal liberty, specifically as it pertains to religious freedoms, or our tradition of the separation of church and state, or our First Amendment that forbades preventing the freedom to practice ANY religion or none at all?

I firmly believe that if you crawled into the heads of the people passionately supporting this, you would see that they believe the founders made a mistake when they enshrined unfettered religious freedom into the Constitution. They would support making Christianity the official favored religion of the United States.

They would probably also claw each other’s eyes out over which flavor of Christianity they meant when they said it, but that’s a separate issue

I’m sorry, are you under the impression that our form of government is something other than a Constitutional Republic?

It's weird how liberals want to interpret the Constitution literally when it benefits them and figuratively when it does not. I'm glad we leave it up to the SC to interpret the law.

Both sides do it, depending on the subject matter.

And SCOTUS already decided this issue over four decades ago: LINK

Its a dumb argument. If the people of a certain place want the Ten Commandments on their local places, and no other things from other religions, they should be able to have it.

Leftist places do this all the time with their LGBTPedo religion
