This is overblown, the cardinals appointed by JP II and Benedict selected Francis.
Yeah, but I'm not sure JPII and Bennny were picking Cardinals based on an agenda.

What if they're in there having a thumb wrestling tournament: double elimination, with a loser's bracket, including pool play to determine seeding? Last thumb standing gets to wear the funny hat.

just the chimney shot not commentary

Definitely could’ve been something like that, but I believe it was during a time of world turmoil and wars and stuff, so they could never agree on a Pope
It was taking so long that the people put them on bread & water & then took the roof off the building the Conclave was being held to hurry them up
The Pope that was finally elected set up a lot of the guidelines still used in today's Conclaves

Robert Sarah seems like he'd be a good choice. A good African conservative.

Seems like it’s is much much more packed now. Perhaps an expectation for the timing of the smoke signal?

If my time zone math is correct... it's getting close to 8 PM Rome time... so it's almost time to retire for the night

They won’t retire for the evening before the vote is announced. Speculation is that because it’s taken this long for the first smoke is because it could be white.
Early reports out of the Vatican said black smoke would be roughly 7pm local….again, that’s just speculation, as the Cardinals are doing their own thing
I find it hard to believe anyone gets 2/3 of the vote today with so many “front runners”
If it were today, would think it has to be the Secretary of State, PP

Point I was trying to make was the smoke should be soon b/c the Cardinals will want to get to bed soon & start bright & early tomorrow morning
ETA: I'm also assuming no 1st ballot Pope still

IMO, the pope has WAY too much influence on the world
There is a guy who has been dead for 1400 years, named Muhammad, who holds more power over more people.
The royal family holds no real power. They're just a showpiece and the UK citizenry would string them up off of Big Ben if one of them said something considered wrongthink.
