the parents point blank saying they don't tell him no, is the problem.

yes I agree, that is the only problem I see here

so this thread wil go on and on because opinions like yours presume the OP is lying...waste time elsewhere.

He's only 2 and he's many instances where you've had to correct him....doesnt sound like your method of parenting is working.

You sound like a shitty parent. Luckily your kid is only 2...he still has some hope

Just conveniently pretend that you don't believe that part. Even though that was the entire basis for the post.

Um... that's what parenting is. Correcting your child and promoting good behavior. There have been many instances because he's doing his job.

The absence of correction doesn't mean the absence of behavior that should have been corrected.

Make multiple posts debating the topic and discussing what I posted. Say you believe none of it.

Makes sense. You're on a roll today.

bullshite! I don't have battles in public, those happen at home, and I win, period. Because of that, when in public, I get my 4 yr old's attention and give him a simple glare. ALL bull shite stops. If, at that point the wife thinks she needs to have some explanatory conversation, she can take him elsewhere to achieve, not at the expense of others to listen.
We have a very laid back style AT HOME, but there is very little room for error in public....for safety concerns that exist today, I cannot and will not let a small child think he can question a directive given to him.
Public discipline isn't always about safety, but when it is, I want the best result.
Most times, if we are dining with others and kids for some reason, we put the kids at their own table and the older kids handle the small stuff.

That's all it takes from me as well. My kids call it my grumpy military stare lol

It works on other people's kids as well, even kids know who they can't get away with shite on.

it takes work and discipline to be a parent. lots of people don't have that. people need to understand that they aren't doing the kid any favors by allowing him to do this kinda thing. tears aren't made of gold.

I don't see the big deal about the napkin, but perhaps I'm not picturing the situation very well. If this is like a 24-month old kid, sitting in a high chair or whatever, and he's tearing a napkin apart while it falls on the floor, as long as that's it, I'm not going to make a big deal out of it. It's on me for not brining something better to keep his attention.

Now, if he's making a scene throwing shreds of napkins everywhere, we're going to have a problem. The kid is going to fuss when you take it away from him, and we'll go outside to hash it out. Either it stops and we resume our meal, or it doesn't and we leave.

One thing I won't do is sit there and let my kid ruin dinner for other guests.

Haha. 6 downvotes from a bunch of pussies for parents.

I’ve been with my Pre-K son today since 9 because they had a small field trip today. I’ve told him “no” AT LEAST 100 times today. At least.

It would only be weird if you didn't . Of course you are going to have to tell them no over and over because they are constantly testing. Constantly. Because they WANT discipline.

The issue is NOT telling them no, or not backing that up if they push too far.

Sometimes I wonder if my sons think their names are "no" and "stop it."
