You'll have to build a house like mine (super-insulated/sealed and passive solar design).

It stays reasonably cool/warm no matter what it's like outside. If I had to, I could probably survive just running the dehumidifier.

Sprinkler system on your roof. It's a bit goofy to do on a residential building, but it does work. Keep the roof cool, keep the attic cool. Keep the attic cool, help the house stay cool.

How in the hell does one stay in a house that reads 78 degrees in the summer? That's unbearable to most people, including myself.

Are you 90 years old with thin blood or something?

Its 95 degrees outside and 90% humidity. You need magic to keep a house cool without running the AC.

Need a huge Geothermal tunnel/loop.

keep house at 75 during day. 78 requires too much effort to bring back down at evening time.

This will work, but it tends to make for a moldy roof.

Damn bro, unbearable? I think u mean uncomfortable. People older than 50ish would have killed for 78 in the summer when they were kids.

My 1st yr at LSU was spent in a dorm w/o AC (W. Laville) and I don't recall it being all that bad.

No not goofy at all. In fact I forgot about this, but when I worked in local government in the building permit and inspection department in college, I remember there were certain contractors that would come in and they would mention they tell everyone they build a house for that its a good idea to spray their roofs on really hot days during the summer.

Only issue I think having your ac running all the time is burning out your blower fan motor. They aren't costly enough to worry about as far as I'm concerned.

I blast that thing. I don't care. I barely use my heater, so it all evens out. I'll pay the money.

but its something about keeping the AC running. For some reason I worry it will stop working at some point if it keeps running, so it has more to do with not wanting to running it all the time.

I feel the same way.
