Doesn’t Washington St already have the highest suicide rate in the country?

Myth. Not even in the top 25.

Played football all my life, as I am sure most here have.

Obviously I have never played at a pro level, but have had my fair share of heavy hits.

With that said, I would do it all over again. Football has been my life since I was a young man and I would not have it any other way.

There were studies done over the years of tens of thousands of human brains (none of which suffered any kind of head trauma, BTW) to establish what exactly a human brain is like at different benchmarks of age? Whenever I see statements like "___ had the (insert body part here, brain, heart, lungs) of a ___ year old" I immediately throw the mental bullshite flag. That's one of those statements that I'm not sure have a whole lot of validity.

I am sorry. I don't believe this. He was a QB. Not a FB.

I'd have to assume that he received several of his hits in highschool where he probably played several different positions.

I doubt he played several positions. He was a quarterback in California being recruited by big time schools, they arent going to throw him out there playing safety.

I played football from 2nd-12th grade. Took plenty of shots to the head. I think I can honestly say I had more possible concussions wrecking my dirt bike, 3 wheeler, falling/slipping and cracking my head, numerous car wrecks (none of which I was driving) but was rushed to the hospital by Ambulance in 3 of those, stitched up and discharged before I hit 21 years of age. Maybe I’ll have a problem in the future but all seems normal for now.

My problem with people who blame these head injuries SOLEY on football probably took just as many, if not more head shots off the field than on.

There’s a case to be made that today’s athlete is bigger, stronger, faster. Maybe to save football we ban the bigger, stronger, faster segment of society from playing. Slow it down to the speed our grandfathers and great grandfathers enjoyed

What you do is take away helmets and bring back limited substitutions. In other words, rugby.

CTE can't be diagnosed unless an autopsy is done on the brain.

The fact that this still needs to be explained to ppl is a bit comical.

It seems like helmets would be spring loaded or something.. There needs to be something that absorbs the energy of a hit to the head.

The problem isn't really in helmet technology. Motorcycle and car racers have superior helmets. The problem comes when you add size and impact absorption to the helmet it becomes a hindrance athletically.

I joke (poorly) but as someone that has had multiple concussions I do worry. Has anyone ever scheduled a brain ct? Any experiences with confirmed cte?

I think that it doesn't show up with a brain CT. I think that SPECT imaging may show it...but it is difficult to distinguish from other neurodegenerative diseases (i.e Alzheimer's).

Better get used to 7v7 drills

Rugby, bitches. I'm not getting into a sport that doesn't involve grounding someone into the dirt.
