Was There Ever A Time In Your Life When You Had To Hide Who You Were?

I DVR the Lisa Ling show that comes on CNN on Sunday nights and I was watching it last night and it was about "normal" people who were polygamist. She followed two different couples. One couple was the "average American" looking couple. Live on a farm, etc. The husband claimed he was someone who had to love more than one person. His wife approved, he invited a single mother of 3 he met online, to come live with them for a week to see if it would work out.

The second couple were lesbians. About 7 years into their marriage they hit a rough patch. They were not as happy as they were, etc, etc, but they liked the idea of still being a whole family. They had a few kids, etc, etc, but they came to an agreement to add a partner to their life.

They found someone online, they met and hit it off and it worked out.. The original couple said they are happier now, blah blah.. And the girl they brought into their relationship.. She was raised in a conservative, religious household in a small town in Texas. She married her high school sweetheart right out of HS, they had some kids.. She said she was always attracted to other women, but she thought that having those thoughts were a sin. She said she actually almost killed herself, because no matter what she tried, she couldn't help that she was sexually attracted to women. On the outside, she said she had the "perfect" life in terms of what was expected by her family, community, etc.. After attempting to kill herself she had to go to a psychologist who told her that she was gay. That's who saw was and she had to accept it.

I know this is long, if you are to complain about it then you care more than you pretend to so GFY.. But I was just wondering how many people live they way they are expected and not by who they are. It doesn't have to be just sexuality, it could be your beliefs, you liking a certain type of person your family would disapprove of, etc..
