At Chichén Itzá you can read the blood thirsty culture in the stone carvings. And if you stop and quietly ponder the stories carved on the walls, you’ll get a eerie feeling of despair and cruelty. In some spots, it’s really unnerving.
Historians wonder why the cities were abandoned but that’s an easy one. People gathered their families and left to get away from the insanity that comes with increasing levels of coercion.
Then there was no one left to support the chosen ones when they looked around for their next meal and sacrifice.
Same reason people leave crappy cities. A better life for their families and the politicians barely acknowledge it except to call for another catered meeting and give a speech about change.
See ya.

The Mongols by a 100000%

That's not 100% true.
There were large droughts, and not enough water.

Either this, or nobody could reproduce with a pierced dick.
I agree re: the eeriness of Chichen Itza. It was a life changing place to visit. I was 18, and the experience made me realize how fortunate I am to be alive in America in the present.

And we want their descendants free access to our country.

But certain other groups of people who at the same time in history were also still pagans that sacrificed children. Forget all the much much more recent attempted or completed genocides that have happened on every continent, or other atrocities done in the name of religion.

You could have totally used your name as a joke here, but you missed out, bub.

This. The Mongols committed multiple genocides in a way that dwarfs the crimes against humanity in the modern era.
You either submitted and paid tribute or resisted and had your entire race erased.
If you've never checked out Dan Carlin's Hardcore History podcasts, Wrath of the Khans is a great introduction.

That wasn't the standard, it happened on occasion when they were trying to send a message

Well, to me the Mongols weren't so brutal (in relation to the times). They had a strict sense of loyalty and order, if you broke that yes the consequences were death and destruction to everything you knew. This is quite harsh but not much different than most conquering empires of the time.
The Assyrians win this for my money. Not only did they do everything the Mongols did to disobeying cities, they also liked to show off how cruel they were. Many kings would keep the heads of enemies they defeated in their throne room for visitors to view, they would paint huge murals of their exploits in torture all over their buildings. They built reliefs displaying torture in city centers. Here is one excerpt about the King Ashurnasirpal, who was a typical Assyrian leader when it came to cruelty
quote:
Ashurnasirpal showed how he cut of the heads of 260 rebelling soldiers and piled it together. Their leader named Bubu suffered horrific punishment. He was flayed and his skin was placed in the walls of Arbail. In the city of Suri, rebelling nobles were also skinned and were displayed like trophies. Some skin were left to rot but some were placed in a stake. Officials of the city suffered decapitation of their limbs. The leader of the Suri rebellion, Ahiyababa, underwent flaying and his skin was then placed in the walls of Niniveh. After Ashurnasirpal defeated the city of Tila, he ordered to cut the hands and feet of the soldiers of the fallen city. Other than that, some soldiers found themselves without noses and ears. But also, many defeated soldiers had their eyes gouged out. The heads of the leaders of the Tila were hang in the trees around the city.
You can find tons of stories like this of the Assyrians

I think this was more representative of the fact that would be his last blowjob from her

Great song but it’s hard to listen to if you know anything about the truth vs what Neil Young wanted the Aztecs to be.

Interesting. Don't know much about the Assyrians, but when you consider the fact that you can't spell Assyrians without "arse" it almost makes sense.
I'll put them in the running for "Greates Assholes of History".
What I want to know is, although their torture sounds horrific, did they wipe out entire races of people like the Mongols?
