Was I in the wrong to take out my frustrations at an old lady over a parking spot?

This weekend I was running late. I had to rush into the grocery store to grab a few items for a cookout. I typically don't mind parking near the back and walking. I can burn calories and avoid people dinging up my car. But on this particular Saturday I needed to get in and out of the store fast.

I see a spot open near the front. Another car beat me to it. As I drive by it's an old lady that parks there. She has a handicapped tag on her car. What pisses me off is there are handicapped parking spaces available and she is not using them. So I ended up parking near the back. I get out and jog toward the store. She was still getting out of the car and I let her know in a stern voice that it's wrong for her to be parking in a regular spot instead of handicapped and to have more courtesy for others.

Did I do the right thing? How would you feel?

You're in the wrong for making up this story that 100% did not happen.

Maybe the handicap placard is for someone else (like her husband) and she doesn't feel right about using it because the placard wasn't issued to her.

You're an absolute a-hole for that move

The lady, who seems to be legit handicapped if she took so long to get out of her car, was nice enough to leave the HC open for someone who needed it more.

YOU were unprepared, late, and decided that she was wrong for being nice.

Are you really that dense to have to ask that about this situation with an old lady?

Grams was telling me yesterday about some a-hole who yelled at her and scared her in the parking lot at the grocery store. It tore her up inside and she had trouble sleeping.

Thanks a lot, a-hole.

Considering there were 4 open handicapped spots she wasn't doing anyone a favor.

That was my grandma. My powpow just died a week ago and she can't bring herself to remove the placard due to grief. Also, parking in handicap spots reminds her of him too much. Thanks for ruining her day. She's been crying ever since.

She wanted to make sure OweO had enough room to get out of the van since leaving the hospital yesterday.

And if 4 wheelchair bound folks pulled up after her?

Sounds like you didn't lose that much time by parking further down. Should've given the older lady a break and not said anything or even let it bother you. She probably has the plate because of a medical reason but maybe she feels that she can still get around good enough to not have to park that close and occupy a handicap spot in case someone else needs it.
