Dude, I threw gas on a fire one time and it made a mushroom cloud. That's what explosions do.

while it's true the chinese govt doesnt care that much about the life of it's people, the people handling the stuff typically do care..

Dammit! I just lambasted another poster on the OT for using the words "mushroom cloud" because it implied nuke when clearly this was NOT a nuke.

People are fricking stupid!

Not a nuke (otherwise we wouldn't have seen the pic from at least that first camera) and power would have been wiped out due to the EMP effect.

Just a fricking explosion. A really, really BIG fricking explosion.

Another angle of the obvious Chinese nuclear explosion.

a gas explosion that size seems unlikely, a massive amount of storage in a very close location might do it, but it seems unlikely they would allow that situation to happen, even the Chinese are more careful than that.

You have clearly not conducted any business with any Chinese. They give no fricks.

But they might have to after this. This is all over social media. If they have a bunch of people dead because they were violating some obvious standard safety precaution it will not go well from a PR standpoint

Meanwhile, trial lawyers all over the nation are trying to learn Mandarin as fast as possible and booking flights to Tianjin.

Well, hold up now. Let's make this a learning moment instead of a time for ridicule.

Now he has a better idea of just how devastating and destructive a nuke actually is.

no, he deserves ridicule. If there was a nuclear detonation, CNN would not be reporting 'dozens of injuries.' More like thousands and thousands of deaths.

Really puts it into perspective what we did to those poor, innocent, defenseless Japanese people.
