WalMart Tire Service
Posted by tigerlife36 on 6/9/21 at 6:49 pm34
I might be out of my mind but Walmart has the best prices on some Michelin tires I'm looking at for a SUV. Anyone have some good or bad stories from WalmMart tire service?

Check your lugs before driving off. The prices are good but the work is half arse in my experience.

Trust me take it somewhere else. Customer service is so infuriating there

A cousin of mine had the tire actually come off after they rotated and balanced her tires. She got it stopped, but dickered alot of stuff in the process. Walmart bought her a new car.

Last time I bought tires at WalMart several years ago it took fricking forever to get them installed I was literally there for HOURS!
From then on I’ve been going to Discount Tire, schedule an appointment get in and get out. Usually less than 30 minutes from the time I pull into the lot.

I actually find Walmart to be a good place to get batteries and tires.

I wish we had a Discount Tire up in Monroe. It's either WalMart or small tire shops around here.

I would never let the crack heads at walmart touch my car. Same goes for all those discount oil change places

You can buy them online, from Walmart, have them shipped, but just take them somewhere else for instillation. Changing out a set usually runs about 50-60 bucks in most places, even Walmart

They’re cheap, but they can’t balance WAF.

You are trusting a low skilled, low paid Wal-Mart employee to properly install, balance and mount 4 tires on your vehicle?
They struggle to pull my groceries.

I got my last set of tires at WalMart. No problems at all. Bought a set of Cooper A/Ts for my SUV. They make a line just for Walmart and I have been pleased.

Have you compared buying them from Tire Rack and having them shipped to one of their local "partners"?

Worse. They have a tendency to over torque lug nuts. This happened to me at the Siegen Lane Walmart.
I had a tire replaced and all was well. Few months later I caught a nail and went to change it on side of 110. Two of the lug nuts would not go back on for the donut.
I limped to Walmart on the donut with two lugs and told them my story.
The Auto manager apologized but didn't really offer me anything free. Told me new studs would cost $$ and I was left to wait for them to do the work.
Well Iphones were new at the time and I googled this "lug nuts won't go back on after removing them. threading messed up"
And the #1 cause of this was over torquing them aka inexperienced tire techs with impact tools.
I pulled that article up and showed the manager. She pulled up my record of having that tire replaced a few months before.
Shockingly, she was very apologetic and got my studs replaced for free.

Sam's is a better bet if you are going to chance it. Or Costco, depending on what you need. They seems to carry different things on purpose for some reason.

Yeah we don't have many options for installers here through TireRack.

Mavis broke my pressure sensors yesterday. That is all.

Not sure. I have good and bad stories from all kinds of tire places - Walmart, chabill’s, Sears, Tri-Care - it’s the luck of the draw
