I have been using the 20K Mobil 1 oil and its 20k filter. I noticed the same oil and filter is now available in the Walmart Supertech brand now, for about half the price.

Anyone here using the Supertech brand 20k full synthetic oil and filter, and if so any issues with it?

I wouldn't use Supertech oil for the same reason I wouldn't use Sam's Choice condoms.

Might be a fine product, I would just always be uneasy about it.

Ive used it for as long as I can remember. There's only so many brands of oil anyway. Walmart sure isnt making oil. Can't remember the name of the company that makes it buts it's one of the big ones.

Both the Oil and the filter are quality products from everything I read. I've also used them with no problems. Big thing, with any oil, if you just keep up with the regular change intervals, you shouldn't have any issues.

BTW, Warren blends the supertech oil and I believe Wix makes the filters.

Supertech is a Warren Performance Products product, nothing wrong with it at all. Boutique brand oils only offer marginal extra protection at the extremes of operating conditions.

Better oil analyses than most non boutique oils.

And if you can't go synthetic, their gl-5 gear oil is one of the only yellow metals safe versions that holds up long term.

Having said that, I would not run any oil 20k without doing oil analyses to figure out wear.

The few times I’ve used Walmart’s full synthetic, I found that it burned extremely fast in my truck and wife’s car. And found myself changing the oil way sooner than usual.

I use the synthetic blend for my truck, and it does fine. And went back to Mobil 1 full synthetic for my wife’s car.

Its literally the same oil as its name brand competitor, just in a different bottle. Its not like Walmart has refiners making oil products.

This forum will provide you with all the information you'll ever need. I use it to find zinc content through the oil analysis.

I use the super tech full synthetic 20,000miles oil for high mileage engines and their filter. It’s like $21 to change my oil. I do it every 5k miles though, not 20k. Been doing this for about 60k miles now no problem.

Walmart oil is made by Warren, which makes several name brands. It's the same oil.

For years, people fell for the scam that you need to change your oil every 3000 miles.

I never knew so many fricks were given about oil that it needed it’s own forum. Much less zinc content counts.

Years ago when engines were not built to the tolerances they are now and had carbs it made sense. The oil wasn't as good either. Let alone synthetic.

A 3k oil change hasn't been necessary for decades.

On the flip side, I hope you are not saying 20K is a good idea.

In fact, the manufacturers have rolled back the engine oil life indicators that were often going to 15K due to too many engine problems.

8-10k is generally fine. But one has to remember the oil carries contaminants in it. The longer it is in there the longer it builds up.

It’s important to stick with one type of oil. Don’t bounce back and forth between conventional and synthetic. It can lead to caking and flaking.

The Supertech oils are good oils from the analysis reports I have read. I wouldn’t do 20k on any oil. 10k sounds much better with a full synthetic.
