Growing up in Carencro in the 90s and 2000s, this was the closest grocery store to us for years. Will not miss the ratchetness.

This was my first thought exactly. The Carencro Walmart is actually nice, relatively speaking. Doesn't sound like it will be for much longer.

Hate to see that one go. It was a good visa card liquidation spot. But it was also the only WM I've been to that didn't have a self checkout! That Northside culcha would have blown the theft through the roof.

If anything, it’s the other way around. Upper Lafayette is a realtor created term to differentiate the ghetto from some of the really nice neighborhoods strategically place north of I-10 but not necessarily in Carencro. Now it get used all the time for the north side.

Wife is from Lafayette and go often, I'm from NY but lived in Louisiana while attending LSU. Saw some interesting news from the are and decided to post about it because a lot of people here live in Lafayette. Good effort though.
