Your expert opinions are needed...

Health-wise:

If I can do

__ miles of walking without stopping, I should be able to do 1 mile of jogging.

__ miles of biking without stopping, I should be able to do 1 mile of jogging.

I feel like I could walk for a long arse time

Not sure how to equate that to jogging

I'd say maybe 4-6 miles of biking = 1 mile jogging

You should be able to walk all day without stopping. That's not a fitness thing, just not being a total fatass

Which is heavier, a pound of feathers or a pound of bricks?

40 mile bike ride feels like a 10 mile run to me. 20 mile bike ride feels like maybe a 3 mile run. It's not linear.

Eta: but that doesn't mean that when I'm in the shape to ride 40 miles that I can go jog 10 miles without any running training in the previous weeks. I've ridden 40 miles and tried to jog 2 miles later that week and felt horrible the whole time. It's a different workout. The amount of exhaustion is all I'm referring to.

A mile of walking and a mile of jogging are close to the same. Not sure with biking.

Eta: I mean calorie-wise

Jogging non stop for a mile? No amount of walking will help you achieve that

terrain matters a lot too as far as a bike ride.
Going up the levee wears me out. If I can even make it up without walking the bike up. (talking about going up in the grass, not on the pavement.)

They all use the muscles different ways. You could be able to walk all day, and if you're not used to running or biking, you won't be able to do much the first few times.

You would need to know your weight and speed to make a good guess. I'd assume that if you burned the same number of calories, the exercise is equivalent.

Calories Burned

I don't think it's the same.

If you think of endurance with impacting hard surfaces that's running and walking.

Without impact, much less friction, that's biking.

That has to take a toll over distance independent of burning calories. Can you physically do the exercise, not if you've dieted correctly.

Just ran 2.6 miles (I know, a light weight) and my Garmin said I burned 322 calories.

I bike some as well so I used the calculator and it claims I will burn 310 calories going 14mph (about my average MPH) for 20 minutes.

Does not compute. Biking is a much more efficient calorie burner than walking or running. On a 30 min run o burn about 450 calories. A 30 min ride burns about 600 calories. Figure around 3 miles running, and 7 miles riding.
