Even if this was at school that shouldn't be that big of a deal, based on this account of events. If she was off school grounds and not representing the school it shouldn't matter at all even if it was raunchy, as long as no laws were broken.

No scholarship was revoked, he simply pulled his endorsement..this whole story, outside of Walker, is a non issue

Costing her the opportunity is still potentially a legal case if her application had a strong chance of getting the scholarship before he withheld the recommendation.

Believe it or not, not every parent in Louisiana throws parties for their teenage kids with alcohol. Could there have been kids drinking there, sure, but saying the mom threw a keg party for her daughter. This person has some personal connection to the principal

He's in a position of power using it in the wrong manner, per your words.

In some positions, you don't just get to say oh well I messed up give me another chance.

Correct. As trashy as people are, it has nothing to do with school if they are off campus.

Not a lawyer but does the Livingston Parish School System want to risk it?

There are nuisance suits with no grounds at all which get settled simply because the costs of a defense and the bad PR are higher than paying them off. This appears to be a case where their employee really DID frick up and it looks bad for them.

at this point, they have ZERO to lose..

funny enough, they have been fighting back lately and as pointed out here, started winning..

im not saying this one will be a win for them, but its going away for sure

All the good the man has done at that school should not be tossed out the window because people are emotional about this. But, nah, let’s do the very thing we loathe around here - emotionally overreact to a mistake. Give the girl her position in SGA back, return support for her scholarship, and move on with a lesson learned.

fricking lynch mob around here though.

If this is "all" this guy has done, do you really think it's teh first time he blatantly abused his authority?

Was he required to endorse her application? And would he not be able to withdraw support if part of reason support was given has changed?

We only know what parents and kid say about endorsement of application. We also don’t know what principal originally based endorsement on.

GPA picture from last year and student council president does not mean she is on track for valedictorian or in some schools doesn’t mean she was on track for top 10%.

But With this drama and immediately going to press she might be more likely to get it now than before.

unlikely

probably not if it is based on religion. He’s a state actor and is her principal acting in his position as such
