Denham Springs Police is investigating the crash and said it it still under investigation if the Walker High senior did not stop at the red light or try to piece together exactly what happened. Meanwhile, the driver on Range Ave. did have a green light, according to DSPD.

Curious, do you have a teen driver?
No, but I was a teen before.

I can assure you that none of us have issues with 17 yr olds not being allowed to drive after 11pm.
Hard for me to understand why you'd take issue with it.
a 17 year old is a senior in high school or could be going into college. Maybe I grew up in a relaxed group of parents or a different time but we generally has a curfew of 2am. 2:30 was fine if I was driving around bringing people home.

There are very few reasons an adult needs to be out at 2AM let alone a teenager.

What parent let's a 17 year old stay out that time of night/morning?

It was a car accident and you’re putting blame on the parent for curfew time on NYE?
A family lost their child and y’all want to criticize curfews?

As the father of 3 adult children and 10 grandchildren one lives with the possibility of devastating news - as has every parent before me. We have had our share of near misses and I ache for those who haven't.
It is impossible to insulate oneself, much less others, from life's horrific moments. The best one can do is mitigate possibility - yes, pray for God's hedge of protection - and live.
The loss of a child just might be one of the most devastating things life brings

I was responding to the person saying they had a 2:30am curfew as a 17 year old.

I cant remember anyone that had a curfew of 11pm when I was a senior in high school. Not even the girls.

I get it's close to home bias, but this thread isn't close to as bad as most threads on tragedy and death. People that know this family are better off just not clicking the thread if they don't want to see discussion and speculation. It's the fricking internet, people want to gossip here.

What a stupid law
Most people 21+ are too stupid to drive. Giving a teen the ability to be free to drive at all hours? I don't agree with it being a law, but a 17 yo should be home with their parents, at 1am on NYE. And, if at a party, Uber/Lyft should have been used.

Such a terrible situation for her parents at this time of year…
In 2002 a Rummel senior was killed in an accident headed back to school for a band bus trip to a playoff game in Shreveport.
That spring at graduation, Rummel let his twin sister go up on stage and receive his diploma. He was in my nephew’s class and his family was sitting right in front of us..When his dad got his diploma, he stared at it and just started balling.. Talk about a heart breaking moment.
I pray for her family….
