You can post all you want about what you let your kids do, but no 17yo boy or girl should be out driving at 1am on NYE!!!!
She had the wreck at 12:50 am on New Years Day. I feel bad for her parents. Her mom released a statement but her dad is probably still in shock.

No. I understood his perspective and didn’t insult his parenting at all until he said my son is the reason he won’t drive on NYE. I thought we were having a respectful conversation about different parenting approaches until he attacked. I hit back.

It's such a terrible situation. My dad drove me around and showed me wrecks he handled during his couple of years being a road adjuster again. Driving is such a responsibility, and all it takes is just one bad decision to end up in a tragedy.

May I ask what happened to the illegal? When I lived in Alabama for ten years a drunk illegal sideswiped three parked cars and then ran into a telephone pole knocking the pole down on two cars. Illegal jumps out and runs to another illegal's house to hide. Cop comes and people tell the cop where the illegal is. Cop said that he couldn't do a thing since he did not see the illegal behind the wheel of the car. This happened in Montgomery. I wonder what the cops will do when an illegal drives and kills an innocent person.

He ran her over, kept driving then pulled into a parking lot to check the damage on his car. Like she was completely insignificant. He took a plea deal and got 15 years. He must serve at least half that before being eligible for parole. We are fighting to have him deported when released.

Undocumented mean they don't technically exist.

My heart hurts for this family, why get triggered because other people raise their kids differently than you

She shared nothing but her personal experience. Clutch your pearls elsewhere.
We all grieve for the girl's family and friends.

Not triggered by that at all. Thought we were just chatting about differences. I was triggered when he specifically said my son is the reason he won’t drive on NYE. No reason for him to go personal. Wonder why no one feels he has any blame in the exchange but don’t really care. I said nothing rude or insulting to him at all until he went personal.

No. Really. That entire exchanges went bad when he disagreed with my parenting so much that he threw a personal attack. Not a single person called him out on getting triggered by my parenting style. Not one. But everyone has an opinion on me returning fire. Gee, I wonder why.

New Year’s Eve was always nice because all our parents refused to let us drive and I got to spend the night wherever I ended up

I know a college student who was driving drunk. Hit a guy head on going the wrong way as he was getting on the freeway. The wrong way driver was killed and it was 100% his fault. The kid absolutely should not have been drinking and driving, but assumptions about whose fault accidents are don't always come to fruition.

I can’t imagine. I don’t even know them, but can pray. Irregardless of the report, tonight there is still a mom and dad, and perhaps siblings, in pain. I’m surprised this thread is going as it is vs more condolences, support, and offers of prayer.

I do find it funny that someone that has tracking systems on their kid is fighting with someone about not micromanaging your kid too much.

The fact of the matter is this poor girl had zero buisiness being out on the roads at 1am!!!
Sir this is Louisiana, where 17 yr olds can drive whenever the frick they want and you can buy 100 round magazines for your AR-15. Freedom isn't free.

I’ll guess I’ll Uber after one glass of wine after dinner so I don’t wrap my car around a tree. Grow up people

But them he said my son was the reason he’s too scared to drive on NYE. Literally my son. I ignored things he said that I disagreed with until he tried to make it personal. Talk shite, get hit
People say a lot of shite about a lot of shite, it’s your decision whether or not to react to it. If you’re confident in your parenting decision, his opinion shouldn’t mean anything to you.
