there are many reasons companies can fire employees...i doubt they would list that as the reason. Internet violation or some other excuse would be what they would list even though its probably because they think you are taking advantage of the leave policy. Just because it is allowed doesn't mean the company will value you as an employee for taking it...and that is why most men don't use it.

I'm not the one making baseless claims. Show me an HR manual that allows for women to get extra paid leave for maternity on top of whatever all employees get.

Could you phrase that better? Do I think women get pregnant to get paid leave? No.

It doesn't change the fact that men tend to be more reliable and less likely to miss work, thus more dependable which leads to more money.

I'm just trying to explain to you that even though a 12 weeks leave may be legally available to me it's not really available unless you have a shitty job.

Well I honestly don't pay attention to what my sick days are because I have never come close to exceeding them. Only time I took a sick day in the past few years was when I had the flu and was contagious.

i'm confused about this as well. when my wife had our baby about seven years ago I had to take 2 days of PTO.

One of my female friends working for the same company got 6 paid weeks off and didn't have to take a single day of vacation.

I know it's not like that everywhere, but that's the case, give or take a week, everywhere i know.

Because tyler whatever said men don't get the same leave as women, and legally that's not true.

Some companies may give a little paid leave to women, but it not guaranteed.

Paternity leave is a progressive thing. Large law firms and more progressive companies do it, but acting like it is the norm is dishonest.

All other things equal, men are a better long term investment than women. I'd actually argue that women may be a better short term investment, at least anecdotally. Most women work harder and act more responsibly in their initial terms of employment than men, in my experience (in professional jobs). But, in time more than 50% leave high stress positions, often permanently. This is not an argument I'd want to take in a legal matter, but I think it is ethically sound.

I assume all employees includes men. Since men get zero paid leave for maternity, I would say that women do in fact get extra paid leave for maternity.
