Headline: Police release identities of teens who escaped from EBR Juvenile Detention Center
"According to BRPD, David Atkins, 17, and Willie Jackson, 17, managed to escape from the facility late Saturday night, November 25.
Atkins was being held on a charge of first-degree murder through BRPD, while Jackson was being held on a charge of first-degree murder through the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.
No details were released about how the teens were able to break out of the facility."
It seems that the defining characteristic wouldn't be that they are teenagers, maybe what should be in the headline is that we let 2 f*#%ing murderers loose onto the streets through our blatant incompetence. You don't get the benefit of being a juvenile when you kill people.
:banghead:
Afterthoughts: A couple times this year theres been a murderer break out somewhere in the country and it has consumed the news cycle for a few days. But down here in good ole EBR we let two of them out at once and the headline tells us their rough age group. We are screwed.

fricking 17. Those are grown men and shouldn’t be in juvenile detention anyway.

David Atkins
That name doesn't leap off the screen with a mental picture.

Willie Jackson
That name is pretty easy to picture.

One of them broke out about a week or two ago. Not sure if these two came from Angola, but this is what you get when you have antiquated, severely understaffed facilities operating with both hands tied behind their back because idiots want to treat these “kids” as children when they’re accused of murder. They’re grown men and should be treated as such.

This will eventually be forgotten about in the media and these 2 will just get swept back into society where they’ll kill someone else.
Pray it isn’t you or someone you love.

It’s not as upsetting in BR because two more thugs on the streets makes little difference. The gangs and thugs are already all over.

Eye for an eye. There is no rehabilitation for murderers.

You’re saying one of these same guys got out last week? Or a different local honor student?

Anyone facing a first degree murder charge at 17 needs to be charged as an adult and placed in the county jail.

Anyone indicted for murder in Louisiana and is 16 or older is automatically transferred to adult district court to be prosecuted as an adult. They are also usually transferred to a parish prison, but that depends on the specific situation, as federal law requires juveniles be kept segregated, both physically and by sight, from the adult inmate population. Not every parish prison has the capabilities to do that, so some stay in juvenile facilities until they turn 18. Just depends.

Are these the same two David Atkins and Willie Jackson that collaborated on the seminal research thesis “ Robotic Process Automation (RPA)- implications For The Hood And shite” that recently took the science world by storm?

Someone explain to me how the frick not 1 but 2 males over the age of 15 were in JDC with 1st degree murder charges?

Atkins escaped about a week ago and was recaptured. I’m sure he’ll be caught once more (hopefully without shooting at the cops) and will escape once more because the juvenile facilities can’t handle these degenerates.

The adult facility has to have accommodations to house these “kids”. It really is parish by parish. Some sheriffs want nothing to do with housing a 17 year old even if he’s facing 1st degree murder charges.

They had to escape to take their final exams of the semester
