Just don't ever come on here and bitch about Baton Rouge traffic.

I reserve my right to bitch no matter what.

Voting no against a bad plan pushed forward by a bad administration doesn't make you a bad citizen.

Let's figure out what to do to finish the Green Light plan I voted for first before we turn these people loose with even more of our tax money.

What's wrong with that?

If you think that we don't need any more improvements in EBR parish than the 8 or so projects left on the green light plan then vote no. If you want traffic improved, then vote yes. Depends on if you enjoy our current traffic, driving on roads that need upgrades, etc.

Look, someone else who refuses to hold his government accountable and actually believes it will be different this time.

So why are all th conservative mayors in EBR parish, who are generally anti TAX, for this measure? Why is Ultra conservative Woody Jenkins for it? Why are the prominent conservative business leaders in the city supporting it? Baton Rouge Business report supporting it. Metro counsel members who originally voted against putting the measure on today’s ballot are voting YES. So many people who would generally oppose such a plan are on board with what you are calling a bad plan....Yet, you just want to vote no because it was put forth by the Broome administration or because it’s just another road tax. If that’s what you want to do, go for it. But don’t go around calling everyone who supports this tax a socialist, because nothing could’ve further from the truth.

Neither you or they socialists for supporting this tax (you may be, Scruffy doesn't know), but you do have the same mindset at those who espouse socialism.

"Don't worry. They will get it right this time. It just wasn't done right all of those other times."

So how should I hold them accountable? By voting no to a sales tax that is supposed to be used for only the projects they have stated? I voted no to the green light property tax extension due to it being a property tax

Are you talking about the green light plan?

They need to finish what they started with the Green light program. It was the same sales pitch.

If they can't fulfill the last program I don't see why anyone thinks this one will be successful.

Practically? It IS one lane there. There is only one lane that continues on, the other is an exit so it doesn’t count.

You actually believe that it will only be used for the projects they stated?

How many times do they have to trick you for you to not fall for that again?

You have almost every street change it's names at least once. Acadian is Stanford, College is Lee and Brightside. Siegen becomes Burbank. Coursey becomes Bluebonnet. It's confusing

That's because at one time they were separate roads that were eventually connected together.

First off, he didn't say you were a socialist so stop with the sensationalism. The administration's job is to win MY vote. Not Woody's, not the Metro Council (which by the way, is a terrible measure to latch onto), and not the media. Cool, she won over their vote. But she didn't win over MY vote or MY trust.

No one likes our current situation, but until they prove they can finish what we voted on in 2005, why would you think they can take on a program about twice as large when the people in charge have shown a disregard for the tax payers((look up Silky Slim and the COA scandal), when they have proven they can't hire good prople ((look up Broome's first CAO and the Airport Directorsesrch), and then tell me these people can hire the best prople to run this program and engineer these projects.

It's going to be a huge football game with a ton of pork to hand out.

Maybe they should trim the fat and learn to spend the money they already have. Maybe spend less money on “studies” and other bs projects?

BS
Show me where I called anyone a socialist.

I've thoroughly laid out why I oppose this tax, but I've yet to call names.

Provide a link to where I said anyone was a socialist and I will shut up.

The fact is the plan is so large and has grown so big a lot of people have bought in because there is something in it for them. And there is, with 1.1 Billion to spend I can see business people who are for and politicians who are for. I expect they will do very well.

Much of that is valid expense. But, regardless, stand on your ideals and bounce down the road.

Stop being fricking hard heads and maybe things will improve. Indignant ignorance to capitol spending is no excuse.

That ends in 2030 and has about 8 projects left. If you want to wait that long then that's fine but I personally don't. I don't think those projects are the only projects we need to fully improve our situation either

No I don't fully trust the people in office but I don't think that will ever be the case. At least with this proposal there's no up front loopholes. Usually there are multiple loopholes in these proposals but I haven't seen any for this one

Because people are tired of sitting in traffic and the Green Light Plan didn’t go far enough.
