I'd much rather give BRPD a raise.

+ a bazillion.
So many things should have been done years ago. Things like widening Florida from Airline to Denham (including removing some lights and/or putting in overpasses), adding overpasses to Airline, pushing North street out to at least Lobdell, tying Government/Independence to at least Airline, widening Lee down to Highland, even widening Burbank (which will become more and more necessary as land along it between the Staring extension and LSU are developed).

The best feasible plan I’ve seen is turning Airline Hey into a controlled access freeway, adding some overpasses, etc, and adding local access roads on either side of Airline. That would add another high volume throughway. Do the same with Florida and you have solved a good bit of congestion and given people new routes to get around town.

We already have the highest sales tax in the nation and it's a clusterfrick... giving more money to the same politicians is insane

Y’all need to take a play from the Westbank and build an elevated expressway.
Pretty sad when you’re not even as good as the Westbank.
LOL, and y’all voted for more taxes. LMFAO!!!

Dude, I’ve got my place on Chef for that. Been going there for the same woman since 8th grade.
She’s about to retire. Went on social security in June. She’s almost got enough saved to move back home.

frick off.
We are one the highest tax localities in the country yet possibly the most incompetently managed.
Giving more money to barely literate politicians isn’t going to solve anything.

I've always seen it as an either-or situation, but doing both (extending the extra lanes of Airline down to Gonzalez and the extra lanes of Florida to Denham Springs) would indeed be a huge boon.

those solutions (along with an Amite river bridge at harrells ferry) would also spur commercial development in some areas that surely need it

White Oak residents would not be happy about that.

Did these taxes pass? Did the good citizens of BR choose to believe that Lucy would not pull the football away again?
Projects are funded, then never started, then the money is gone. Come kick this ball Charlie Brown. Vote for theses taxes. We will make it all better if we just had more money.
This Sharon-Western-Broom Character... What campaign promises has she kept and what has she accomplished besides firing a police chief that was not broken?
What have y'all gotten for your money besides millions spent on studies?

Well...I will be living in my golden years when the project is completed...retired with grandkids. And that is if it begins on time.

Did all those projects get finished? Is BR traffic just awesome now? Did everybody get what was promised?

Did all those projects get finished? No, ~72% were finished. Poor estimating future costs caused the project to fall short (it was pay-as-you-go and prices for materials rose more than projected).
Is BR traffic just awesome now? That's a silly argument. The project was never claimed to make traffic "just awesome" but it was made with the claim that those areas would see improvement, and it indeed do that. At the very least the traffic in those areas are far more "just awesome" than they were and than they would have been had the tax not passed and people like yourself did nothing but uselessly bitch that no one was doing anything.
Did everyone get what was promised? For the areas where projects were completed (which is the majority of projects) they did.

Not me Baw. I saw tax after tax pass, with promises made, and broken, since I was a kid. My taxes went up, voted on by those with no skin in the game. My insurance kept going up to cover the uninsured.
Every time I turned around there were more fees on everything. Higher taxes, insurance, third world public schools, and new, creative fees every month told me it was time to bail. I left May 31, 2001.

That would be cool. I've often wondered how that would tie in with a major road on the Livingston Parish side.
A quick bang for the buck move would be to widen and extend Morgan road over the river and connect it to Latimer Rd in Denham springs which has plenty of land to work with and immediately connects to Range.
There's a state senator that bought some land on the other side of Hooper road so I really thought they were going to build a bridge there to Watson. Not sure what happened to it.
