You’re bothered because library employees are fat?

And it’s a library. It provides wifi for the public.

Goodwood has been completely rebuilt. I think it is considered the main branch of the parish.

It is the main library. The other locations are branches.

Downtown where? We are scattered around the globe. Can't assume we know where you're talking about.

If downtown is mentioned on TD with no other identifier I think it is safe to assume it means BR given that is the epicenter for the entire reason this forum exists.

Move to Missoula (you can raise rabbits) and things will be different there, Vasili.

I was in the missoula library with the kids in March and saw a bizarre gathering of homeless people just set up at a high top table holding court. They were advising each other on various personal finance issues (it was unintelligible really), making the cliche speaker phone calls (these are all whites and Indians (feather)). Including loud on hold music with the benefits dept of a railroad. Then some library employee came up to them and told them there was free food on the third floor.

What is the point of libraries these days? People don’t read and if you do, you can have a book off of Amazon in a split second. It’s really just a WiFi cafe.

You can get ebooks free from the library with a library card and an app. It's the only way I read books now.

The EBR library system in general, and the main library at Goodwood in particular, is top tier. Digital via Libby, print, movies, 3D printer, the fricking works. Baton Rouge has problems, but the library ain’t one of them.

Our Library System is loaded.

That is an example of how locals have gotten fricked by politicians and don’t want to pass anything in a tax election.

In the 80s, the metro council pushed a library tax claiming that the system would get defunded if it didn’t pass.

Passed by a wide margin

Metro council then took the previous library funding out of the budget to use for other pet projects they couldn’t get approved before that dedicated funding came up.

Now the library system has tons of money that can’t be spent elsewhere so they keep pouring money into expensive rebuilds downtown and so forth.

Goodwood getting rebuilt is one thing because it is the main branch for the city and gets tons of use.

Downtown was basically used to let the homeless whack off to porn and have the jury panels have a place to sit while waiting to be called. And it got a rebuild anyway because that money had to be spent somehow.

Wifi and access to various other hobby equipment? I know there are 3d printers, sewing machines, and various other things you can use or rent.

You can thank the Downtown Mafia for that white elephant. The old library was fine , it served its sole purpose as a toilet for the area bums.
