It drops when you don't charge people that are committing crimes. But you knew that, already.

Explore Crime Trends.
So just looking at the data for Birmingham PD in Alabama, they are not yet reporting to NIBRS, which a lot of places aren't yet. Data is not accurate IMO.

Birmingham is on track to break a homicide record from 1933

fricking CNN really? Why not post something from Kamala’s website too. There is no less than 15 former FBI officials that are paid commentators for CNN.

The FBI claiming violent crime is falling — when they know cities w/ the worst violent crime failed to report their numbers — is but another example of the FBI interfering in elections against Trump

Wow, not a single murder in Los Angeles in 2023 according to this FBI data!

The FBI's data showing violent crime dropped last year relies on the idea that there was not a single reported homicide in Los Angeles or New Orleans last year.

Textbook example of how propaganda works.

President Trump says violent crime is going up.

The FBI says it isn't even though the most dangerous cities in America don't report their numbers.

Media reports it as fact even though they know it's wrong.

Pretty simple to get a valid comparisom. Just id the nonreporting precincts and delete their contribution from the previous 10 years of data

The FBI has become to the Democrat Party what the KGB was to the communist party in the Soviet Union.

To compare same to same, but the non reporting ones have a lot of violent crime making an implied national comparison over prior year or years fraudulent.

AGs under Obama and Biden-Harris have been dem operatives. I have never agreed with the FBI direct reporting to the AG, but it’s worse under dems. Merrick is a jilted c u n t seeking payback.

What's sad is that people on here have bitched about high crime rate for year, but they get pissed when it comes down during a Democrat's tenure. If you give a shite about public safety, you should want crime to come down regardless of what it means for your favorite politician. Wake up yall.

This has been debunked so many times. Something like 1/3 of the US law enforcement agencies didn’t fill out the crime stats in the new complicated FBI database. That’s skewing the data and making it incomplete at best.

The problem is that the information does not include several dem high crime locations because they stopped reporting along with the fact that they are down grading offenses to make it look better than it is.

It's the lie of a half truth that pisses people off, but dems are not honest people.

Besides, in places like NYC and SF, the DAs are completely dropping charges for violent crime.
That's one aspect that isn't getting talked about enough with the FBI's new reporting system (other than several major metro areas not being, euphemistically, "not integrated").

Is the new system reporting arrests (certainly no), convictions (probably) or victims/complaints (as it used to). It's a statistical analysis weighted to convictions and skewed away from victims and uses arrests vs. convictions as supporting data that traditional law enforcement methods aren't working.

If they aren't tracking victims, an unsolved murder isn't a murder. A plead from violent to non-violent criminal gets reported as property crime. A decriminalized theft isn't theft.

It’s not accurate. Several big cities, such as Chicago, didn’t report their crime stats to the FBI this past year.

The gold standard when it comes to crime statistics is the Justice Department’s National Crime Victimization Survey. And according to that, crime is up.

When will 2023 be revised???

quote:

After the FBI released its new crime data in September, a USA Today headline read: “Violent crime dropped for third straight year in 2023, including murder and rape.”

quote:

But the FBI has quietly revised those numbers, releasing new data that shows violent crime increased in 2022 by 4.5%. The new data includes thousands more murders, rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults.

The Bureau – which has been at the center of partisan storms – made no mention of these revisions in its September 2024 press release.
