BATON ROUGE - Two violent crimes at LSU in the past week have left students shaken up as they start classes for the fall semester.

The latest crime was an attempted kidnapping outside Cypress Hall early Wednesday morning. The school said someone was taken near the dorm off Aster Street but is now back home.

It's the second major crime on LSU's campus in the past week. On Aug. 19, a student was shot during an attempted robbery near West Laville Hall.

I'm honestly surprised crime isn't worse around campus than it has been historically. The bottom is blocks from campus.

Two of my nieces started LSU this year. I told them that a college campus isn't like the Catholic school they went to. People who don't belong there can just wander around without being questioned.

We need common sense law enforcement. If you hold someone at gunpoint, knife point, car jack, or rape or attempt to rape you should be executed immediately and your entire family forced to stand there and watch. Then leave your corpse on a pole in town square until the buzzards eat it.

Once the crime and rot eats the LSU campus BR is probably done. The death knell will be when all those apartments on Burbank become a giant ghetto.

The Bottom has been there for decades. What we are seeing now is what happens when the PC crowd takes over. It’s unprecedented.

First Jon Bel’s prison reform emptied the jails. Then Broome was elected and she went hard left using the Sterling thing as cover. She ran off a decent police chief, undercut the rank and file, and even outed informants.

The results are what we see today; robberies, rapes and murders. Multiple offenders released on bail. Law and order is a tv show, it’s not something these people care much about.

Nah we will be told the arrests and negative attention is disproportionately targeted towards minorities

I mean, LSU butts up to 70802, the literal worst zip code in the south.

If LSU doesnt start buying everything on Highland road from State Street to downtown, the thugs will continue stealing absolutely everyone of those preppy college kids phones, wallets, iPads and anything else they can find in their cars, which are parked in the dorm/apartment parking lots, a couple hundred feet from the hood.

I love LSU but sadly I'll probably encourage our youngest to go elsewhere for college. I don't want my then 18 yr old daughter living on her own for the fist time in Baton Rouge.

My oldest wanted too and I directed him to Tech. LSU isn't the same when I was there in the 90s.
