Ironically for me, it was a few years later that one of the very students I got in as an exception came to work in my office. Busted the kid watching porn in the main office where we check in students and parents for daily tours.

I called him into my office. He knew why. His excuse? “At least I wasn’t masturbating”. I shite you not. So I tell him he’s fired. What does he do? Reports me to HR for being a racist. Was the second time I was accused of racism while trying to do good things for “the community”.

Needless to say my views changed a good bit after that.

Makes me glad my kid’s at ULL instead.

You guys laugh, and so did i when he said he wanted to go there but it’s been a good experience. I didn’t have much respect for Lafayette before, but it’s got a nice downtown that’s safer than BR, and i haven’t heard about any of this low-class high school behavior BS. UL is underrated imo.

This is why most schools have enrollment requirements.

Guaranteed those two didn't have a 3.0 at Booker T Washington

Yeah, I can see how you'd think that. Sucks to be stuck in such a linear way of thinking.

This was also true in the 90's (maybe even more true), and I never saw anything like this go down in a class. If someone even uttered a word, they were likely to be asked to leave.

This is societal decline.

It's one thing for you to be playing games on your computer, shopping, watching sports, or whatever. That never bothered me too much.

But, straight-up talking during a lecture is totally disrespectful not only to the professor, but to the other students trying to learn. No one is forcing those students to be there. Sure, there might be an attendance policy, but just skip class if you want to chit chat the whole time.

But, at the very least, even if you're not going to pay any attention, if you come to class, be quiet.

Never heard of that one. Having to kneel on pencils was the legendary Catholic school punishment that old folks claimed to have endured.

14 downvoters yet nobody can respond

Really shows how deep the self loathing narrative has taken hold on here.

For the record LSU is ranked ahead of Bama, Ole Miss, and even Tulane in the 2023 WSJ rankings.

But that doesn’t fit the “everything about Louisiana is horrible” agenda so it gets ignored. Sad.

Grew up in SWLA so maybe it was a thing there because of all the rice farming. Worse than that was having to kneel and hold your arms out straight. "Pick those arms up you little a-hole"

Yep, I was forced into the kneeling on the rice thing. I also had to kneel on the small pebble patio.

It’s only going to get worse. When you are given everything based on the color of your skin vs earning it, since you where a child, you become blind to reality/fairness

Colleges sold out to the concept of a student is a customer because they are so desperate for as much money as possible. This is what results.

TOPS needs a massive restructuring. The current system needs to be for 3.0/3.5 or higher. If you have a 2.5, you need to take out a loan, prove yourself, and then TOPS will clear that portion of your loan once you've successfully completed the semester.

If you flunk out or drop out, no dice. It's yours to pay off.

My wife and I both graduated from LSU and this is one of the many reasons neither of kids will be going there.
