Tough to really get mad at the drivers when it's a black car, no hazards, no lights overhead, and what looks like cops just kind of sitting there filming?

That's pretty amazing. The fact that self preservation doesn't make you want to get away from the car blows my mind.

YouTube note says the first driver fled the scene on foot. No deaths and 2 drivers taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

Owner of the car should be charged with something.

1. Leaving his car in the middle of a travel lane
2. No hazards
3. No warning markings whatsoever
4. Probably neglected basic upkeep of that POS car

Are we sure it was a cop?

One thing is for certain. There has never been a bigger need for defensive driving skills than today.

Exactly. Definitely could have turned his lights on. He had a flat tire easily could have limped out of the way/the edge

But instead you stand around outside of your car while cars drive by you going 80moh? he’s a fricking moron

Good thing Brandon passes the build back better bill so trillions of dollars can be put back into infrastructure because this won’t happen now that he has done that.

That bill will stop all wrecks

Based on the name on the video, I think it was an independent reporter. You could hear him calling it in later in the video.

I've alluded to it more than once and I stand by it.

This car equals freedom shite needs to die. It should be much more difficult to get a drivers license. These things are death traps. There is no way that the drivers who crashed into these idle cars weren't neck down on their cell phones.

Build pedestrian and cycling infrastructure and push for people to either prioritize being close to work or working from home.

shite is ridiculous.

If you want to see something amazing, go watch the first couple episodes of 'Shot in the Dark' on Netflix. One of the stringers on that show was filming a similar situation with a broken down vehicle on the freeway. The car got hit and caught on fire. The stringer shucked his camera and gear, ran to the car, and pulled the driver from the burning wreckage.

I really wish that show had continued.

fricking right. I ran out of gas one time one the interstate. Leaving the dealership with a brand new car and 2 miles down the road it ran out of gas. I coasted about 10 feet off the interstate in the grass. frick you Honda of Covington.

A few years ago I was driving home from the airport on the interstate at some crazy hour, like 2-3 AM. My alternator suddenly went out and I had absolutely nothing but momentum and a steering wheel. No engine, no lights of any kind. To make matters worse, my vehicle is black and on both sides of the road were those 10 or so foot concrete construction barriers. I couldn’t get off the road. I rolled a little further and saw a spot where I could get maybe 3/4 of my vehicle off the road. Did it and called AAA to come get my arse.

It was a bad situation that could have been a lot worse.
