When you have a captive audience of 7k students you can have a food court.

If that high school was a town it would be in the top 30% by population in Texas. Not including teachers and staff.

I remember it well. My best High School meal? A thick slice of baloney, bread, potato salad, string beans, milk, and for dessert: strawberry jello, vanilla, or chocolate pudding. Condiments were provided.

My absolute worse? A kind of cornbread chili casserole. It was so bad; I can't remember anything served with it.

But 10 cents for a school lunch was a bargain. God bless Momma, she always had a delicious hot meal waiting when us kids came home. Including her signature home-baked bread.

All the yuppy kids went off campus to dine at the local eateries. I recall you could get a potato salad sandwich, bag of chips, and a coke for 50 cents at Mommasan's Kitchen.

Fond memories.

We went across the street to get a boat of potato wedges for 25 cents and a RC cola for 39 cents. Afterwards we would burn a heater.

Did they ever fix their football stadium's foundation problems?

We would walk over to Short Stop and wait in line with the teachers. Back when it was a grocery store still.

By concentrating all of their resources into a single high school, Allen has nice facilities, but it is a huge school.

Neighboring Frisco has the opposite approach. They try to cap enrollment around 2,000 for their high schools. Both cities continue to grow. Allen keeps expanding and upgrading facilities on their campus. Frisco keeps building new schools.

So if you work there, do you work for pizza hut or for the school board?

Yeah, I think they might have relocated for one season, but they’ve been playing at the new stadium for a few years now.
