Watched this with my kids the other day.

“Wildlife and Fisheraries”
“Next time, leave, stupid”
“Don’t look good for the home team”

Kennard Jackley is his name, on Carr Drive in Slidell.

There are a few videos that come along that really put weather events, and weather in general, into perspective......this is one of those such videos for me.

I'm not finished with it, just passed the part where the second floor door gave way. More than twenty-five years on and my nerves are shot hearing that floor and house creak and groan with every wave.

I've watched a lot of stuff from Katrina ("or what the hell ever this storm is called", as the ol' guy said), but I have not seen this video. Appreciate you sharing!

The narration in this video is so epic it almost seems scripted. It's amazing.

I randomly skipped to the 32 minute mark, where is he is describing little tidal waves lapping at his second story.

"Never thought I'd die this way. Maybe that big ole tree over there will float over here and get me."

He is like a lovable movie character, accent and all. What a gem. I really admire his sangfroid and humor, given the dire circumstances.

Those waters and homes were probably filled with snakes. Never thought about that.

This is a guy who is not overly attached to material possessions. But beyond that, it didn’t seem like he ever thought he was in danger. Pretty sure he fricking was!

I had relatives living in Pass Christian at the time. Their places were wiped off the map. Several of their neighbors who didn't evacuate lost their lives.
