Veterinarians Of the OT - amount of food for a dog daily

I have a full grown 4.5 lb Yorkie. How much should this dog be eating?
From several Google searches, the best thing I could come up with is 1oz wet per pound / day. Basically 1.5 of 3oz cans.
So 2 oz x daily

Just put that bistro feeder out, baw.

Depends on the food, look at the label.

Do you free-feed or on a schedule?

Title is misleading. There’s no dog involved here.

What kind of dog?
If a pit bull, 0.00 oz daily.

It's on the bag. Read it.
Eta: I see you say wet. Is it on the can?

As much as it pains me to stick up for antiquetiger, if you’re going to call someone a dumbass, the least you could do is properly spell “label”

My female Yorkie weighs 11 lbs. You must have a toy yorkie. The vet says her food should fit in your hand. But I give her snacks and offset it with very very high levels of exercise.

Start with what it says on the label. If your dog gets fat, cut back. If your dog gets skinny, feed it more

Completely depends on the calories in the food. Find that then you can get an exact amount.

For all you people that keeps saying read the
It’s not on the label. It does say for a 5 month old that will be 22lbs full grown, feed it 3/4 a can a day (basically 9oz a day). This is Royal Canin puppy. We are putting her back on it to fatten her up some and it’s something we know that doesn’t cause her problem.

Start here
ETA that's dry puppy food. But their website gives calories. Nothing under puppy and wet food though.

Depends on the brand of food. Quality vs. quantity. Many dog food brands are filled with fillers. Take a look at the first 8 ingredients —- this will help tell the story.
For my 60 lb. dog, she receives 1 cup per service twice daily.
For a 4.5 lb. Yorkie, I would imagine you are looking at probably 1/4 cup per serving, twice daily, if you are feeding your dog quality food.
My comments above are for dry food, however the portion size could potentially apply for wet food as well.
