Not to get off subject but every time we stopped by Bagram, I always laughed at the ones that freaked out when the incoming sirens went off. Nothing ever came within 100 yards of the outer wall.

I just put something like this on during Black Friday and make out like a bandit on deals with a veterans discount.

I was in a Stryker battalion and we spent weeks at a time out of the wire and we always laughed at the hysteria when we were chilling when the indirect sirens went off when we were back at Liberty. POGS running for bunkers... You can tell by the PoO where its headed and how large the round is usually (mortars of course) those 105mm rockets sucked though.

Haj is a smart cookie. He always knows the DFAC hours. He can take a break from work and pop an 80mm mortar tube out of his trunk and terrorize a few mechanics or finance types that are heading to get chow.

I’ve never seen a vet get pissed about it. At an old job, I’ve had several ask and we didn’t offer a discount. They just said “okay” and went about their business.

We were there nearly 12-13 months before all the KBR shite started popping up. I think one was targeted by a bomber at lunch time, i remember hearing a story about it. We had MREs and any little haji special we could find before it got all McDs ect.

Same here my first pop in Iraq in 2003. I remember top handing me a sat phone during XMAS in 2003 and told me to make this the best 5 mins of my life outside the first time I got laid. I think top overestimated my staying power as a young man.

Yep, no mail or phones for months. We were a ragtag looking bunch once everyone used their razors and soap up.
