This idiot is a Republican ?
Please change your party affiliation to Democrat. You will be in company with people whose beliefs are more in line with yours.
It's politicians like this that give our state a bad name.

We should not stop at charging people to help strangers. Charging them to help friends could generate way more revenue.

No more random acts of kindness or smiling at anyone without paying either.

All this new money could give our politicians money to siphon off for years. As it is written, so it shall be done.

frick him, they don't need shite if they are all going out together to rescue people. Its a risk they are willing to take.

Republicans use to be for less government right?

Not anymore.

This kind of bullshite is something only a liberal democrat would do.

I don't want to live on this planet anymore when good people have to pay taxes to save people using their own equipment.

There were talks on here about the local sheriffs requiring an officer in every boat. Maybe he is suggesting some sort of permit that would allow these people to search and rescue without needing to have an officer with them.

Or maybe he could introduce legislation telling the dumbass sheriffs to back off with this jackassery instead of putting it on the producers, taxpayers and good people of the cajun navy?

Devil's advocate here, just for shits and giggles.

Coast Guard to guy in bass boat: "How many houses did you check back in that subdivision?"

"About half of them."

"Did you mark which ones?"

Blank stare.

Some standardized training and procedures might not be a bad thing.

We had a system in place as we cleared the streets. We went door to door and responded to calls as they came in, coordinated with the FD and ebrso guys at drop off point. I don't disagree there needs to be a lessons learned meeting. But it wasn't us that were overwhelmed it was the LE guys. First thing I asked when I got to launch location was where was their map grid and what had been cleared. Guy laughed and told me we aren't that sophisticated. It took about 5 minutes for everyone to get on same page. Sunday the biggest issue was AT&T and lack of communication.

I find it funny he mentions firefighters and the liability with volunteer firefighters. So if Sen Perrys kids are about to burn in a fire are we to walk away because we don't have a card that says we know how to put water on a fire?

Well just saw this ... check out Jonathan J. P. Perry fb page. Can't link.

My understanding is that he's trying to make it easier. IDK.

So if we don't take course and pay fee are we allowed to take exception to USCG requirement to lend aid to vessel in distress? What's really funny is when you're broke down on water and need to be rescued, ones first instinct is to call USCG on 16. They ask if anyone is dying or and kids on board. If not, they tell you they'll phone a friend for you.

And this is why politicians as a group are nothing but shite. I guarantee if his family needed help and there was nobody around but Pierre with no license his tune would be different. Politicians suck. Just a bunch of overpaid satraps trying to impress people with how many useless laws they can pass. Grrrr !!!

Looks like he's crawfishing to me. Good guy or not, once you're in government, you try to grow government and just using the word permit is all I need to know.

Now we gotta figure out which story is the closest to the correct one of the original...lol

If that's what was really meant and he truly isn't crawfishing, then I'll take back what I posted but how do we figure that out?
