re: Vermillion Senator wants Cajun Navy to get training and buy permits
Maybe there should be a curfew when you should be able to run the boats for safety and so you don't wake up sleeping potential evacuees?

quote:

Senator Jon Perry, a Republican from Vermillion wants Cajun Navy to have safety training and pay a fee to be permitted...no good deed goes unpunished...

After seeing his post it somewhat sounds like a good idea, even though I'm for minimal government all in all.. No fees associated but people/volunteers would be better off with some structure and the ability to move forward without the laws permission... As for the end of his speech where he gives out his street address and then says call it anytime...he must be confused

Original interview the story was based on

It's a naïve idea at best.

re: Vermillion Senator wants Cajun Navy to get training and buy permits
The OT is doing EXACTLY what we bitch about others doing all the time right here. Y'all got your internet torches and pitchforks out about to roast this dude and you don't know jack shite about what he actually said.

THE STORY WAS IN THE frickING ADVOCATE FOR CHRISTS SAKE. This is the very same piece of shite liberal rag that we regularly recognize as manipulating the truth for their own benefit.

Y'all need to step back from the keyboard and take a damn breath. Listen to his response and THEN if you have an issue with his idea get on here with a reasonable argument. For those that won't watch it, he wants to set up a system where volunteers can register ahead of time and sign a liability waiver so that they receive an ID that allows them to legally cross barricades and enter a controlled area for the purpose of performing rescues. Why is this needed? Because it isn't a reach to think that a Sheriff might just up and decide he knows what's best and not allow civilian help. Think that kind of overreach can't happen? Ahem, Sids Curfew ring a bell?

Be informed and not just outraged. Damn.

ETA. I just listened to that link above my post and in that he DOES mention charging for a class. frick that shite. He doesn't say anything about that in his response video. Seems he realizes that is a stupid idea and, like a politician, conveniently dropped the idea as if it never happened. That being said, the other thing is what it is. I can see both sides and think it is a valid conversation but the Group Think rage that was going on earlier was kind of messed up.

Here's the problem with this....a week after floods of biblical proportion, where the entire populace self recovers on a local, parish & state level & this dude starts talking about permits???
Hey JP...let everyone feel good about themselves before you start begging for money & waivers in a disaster. By the way, how much is it going to cost to process those waivers? Where will the records be housed? If i'm launching a boat in neighborhood & there isn't a "waiver rep" on site what happens then?

frick any kind of regulation/Permit/fee/license.

If I'm stranded with my wife and one year old daughter I don't give a shite if you come in paddling on a raft looking like Tom Sawyer. Come get my ass. I'll gladly throat punch any bureaucrat that attempted to stop you once I'm rescued.

frick that Cajun POS politician. Another case of the Cajun short man syndrome. I've never seen a more insecure group as that that comes out of that Abbeville to New Iberia area. I was exposed to that group for six years and I've was amazed at the constant always having to one up you or reject you because your not "one of them". Perry is just trying to draw attention to his narcissistic ass. Well it back fired! A Cajun, a politician and a lawyer. What a fricked up combo that is
