In total blackness your retinas fall out after a while. I forget how long but I learned that while spelunking one time..... And by spelunking I mean the tour guide told our group that before shutting off the lights.

Yeah, I must have gone to the same place as you. Guide also said within minutes of total darkness you lose your sense of direction and shortly afterward, you start to lose your mind. Obviously there is light to bring in food, but I doubt it is really that dark otherwise, especially if dad is watching him fap. I guess I'd have to know what "lights out" actually meant.
From the survivor show "Alone" there was also a lot of info about how that was hard on the individual as well, but they didn't have catered food constantly brought in, either, just random medical visits if they thought they were in danger.
I guess I should have just said, yeah, I'd do it.
Oh, and I had that smartass guide on our tour who pretended like he couldn't find the light switch after his spill on total darkness.

Was it out west? I was 18 and I cant remember. Somewhere in CO I think. Some huge cave system and yeah when ol boy cut the lights it was creepy. Like, ok, I cant see and neither can anyone else. And this was WAY before iphones and their bright screens. Super scary.

The Twilight Zone had an episode on this and the guy had to stay locked in a glass cage and couldn't talk for a year. It's a shame he settled with only 10 days to go. Did he not know what day he was on when negotiating? I'm assuming not as he probably would have roughed it out for ten more days.

I will be honest, that would be a difficult task. With no communication, nothing to do.. nothing to read. Just existing and nothing else. That would be challenging to do for 30 days.
