During the Korean war, they did this to American prisoners to get them to testify against the US.

They put them in prison cells where there was no light. They would feed them at different times every day.. And there was more involved as well, like interrogating them, but they might do it two days in a row or wait days until they did it again, to the point the POWs were so out of it, they really thought what they were told to say, actually happened.
