The hell is this? I used to make fun of things made of "synthetic leather" because that doesn't tell you what it's made of at all. That's like telling someone my name is not Kevin, really damn helpful. Anyway, looking for a stool for the office, and came across one where the material is "vegan leather". Same thing, that means absolutely nothing. Why is it ok to just make things up in some cases but you have to be really specific in other cases? Is vegan leather made from polyurethane that doesn't come from endangered seal fetuses or something? Also, if it is made from polyurethane that came from crude oil, they can't guarantee there is no carbon in there from any animal. And if it's from plant oils, well those plants consumed animal feces in one form or another. Vegan dumbassery.

That Big Lots furniture isn’t seeming like such a good idea now, is it.

Reminds of an old Uniroyal product "Naugahyde". 100% synthetic but my dad would tease my mom about how many Naugas were killed to recover the couch.

I doubt Big Lots is running out any officially vegan leather. Probably just the synthetic leather crap.

I don't plan to get any fake or real leather, looking for a stool online apparently requires seeing 10000 you don't want before a good one pops up.

I saw that when shopping for a portfolio recently. Had to shake my head. Caveat emptor I guess.

Reebok and Vans advertise Vegan shoes, pretty much all I buy for myself and kids and I just throw away the little vegan info pamphlet.

Shush, vegan leather is a petroleum product. Don't ruin it for them.

Rich Corinthian Leather

You are showing your age.

A lot of people on here will have no idea of the story behind your reference. For those that don't know, Chrysler completely made it up. There was no such thing as Corinthian leather.

A close modern day comparison is whenever I hear people say that the Ford Kings Ranch Edition truck has seats made of leather originating at Kings Ranch in Texas. I was there recently and was told that isn't the case. Ford just pays to use the name. It probably comes from the same source as the Corinthian leather did.

Wait a minute, when I was a kid I was told that Naugas lived among snipes. But were extremely skittish thats why you never saw them
