Well kinda. If they don't have a fence (which you're right, they almost 100% don't in this case), they likely were hired at the behest of someone looking to add to his/her private collection.
Being in Amsterdam, my money is on the Bratva. Middle Eastern sheikh is certainly not out of the question though.
