While brief, his scene with Cruise in TG: Maverick was poignant and a fitting tribute to the character and the actor that played him.

His documentary, 'Val' I think, is worth a watch. I caught it on Prime a ways back.
Anyway, sad news.

It was a very poignant documentary that pulled no punches. It explores all of Kilmer, warts and all. His son sounds exactly like him.

Was hoping rumors of his demise had been exaggerated.

As an old F-14 Tomcat guy, there's a special place in my heart for Val, Tom, and Top Gun. RIP, Legend.

I'm glad they got to do Maverick together. That was big of both to be able to pull that off. Tom knew he wouldn't get another chance and it was their way of saying goodbye. That's how two legends should do it.

That got me cutting onions in the theater.
RIP

Pretty sure I read somewhere that he sang many of the Doors songs in the movie when playing Jim Morrison.
There’s a story that the remaining members of The Doors listened to his recordings to approve of him singing as opposed to subbing over with the original Morrison vocals. Kilmer had taken voice lessons and apparently was so good that the band had a very hard time distinguishing between Morrison and Kilmer.

That sucks. He was one of my favorite actors. RIP Val.
